About Fiona

Smiling person with short hair and abstract art background

When I picked up the brush after many years away from painting, I loved playing with layers of beautiful, pretty colours and making all sorts of lines and marks. But I noticed, almost without fail, the desire to ‘mess it all up a bit’, with scribbles or scratches or smears.

My art has come to reflect an interest with imperfection, interruption and ‘mess’. For it’s in the mess, interruptions and imperfections that life happens. We live in an age where perfection has never been more pursued (or at least the appearance of it) with smoothing filters and curated feeds, and yet I want my art to reflect the beauty and messiness of living! It’s usually in the moments of imperfection and interruption that we grow the most. It’s in the messiness of life that we grieve and find joy.
And as a follower of Jesus, I believe these are the spaces where we encounter God in the deepest ways and have the most transformative seasons with him.

My art continues to be an exploration of these themes and my hope is that collectors of my work see reflections of their own lives in the colours and textures and imperfections of my pieces.

I completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Major in Visual Art) from the University of Melbourne, and in the years since have worked with a wide variety of creative mediums including fabric, photography, graphic design and film.
It’s exciting to be in a season of life where I can return to my first love - drawing and painting.

I currently live and paint in Melbourne’s outer Eastern Suburbs.
